Ed Bryant has been a Diabetic since age 14, experienced ramifications such as kidney failure, heart bypass, and blindness. Has been blind 29 years.
Joined NFB in 1979; Started free diabetes magazine VOICE OF THE DIABETIC in January 1986 (circulation first issue was 600, is now >352,525).
He works with blind diabetics, those losing vision, and health professionals.
He also works to show readers that blind diabetics can successfully and independently manage their diabetes, and their life, in spite of sight loss. The VOICE exists to show all diabetics that regardless of ramifications they might have experienced, they are not alone, and do have options.
