Kathy and Bill Eble are husband and wife. They have started a company called Home Readers. Their company is a non-profit organization whose primary purpose is to provide print catalogs on cassette for the blind and visually impaired. They record popular mail order catalogs and add descriptions of the products. This is a service that is needed. They are not aware of anyone else providing it. There are specialty catalogs specifically for the blind and visually impaired, but catalogs filled with things we all need on a daily basis have not been available on cassette, until March 1996 when this service began. My husband (Bill) is behind the scenes most of the time, but he is a vital part of this organization. Kathy graduated from a career college in fashion merchandising. She had a little vision during that time, but just after graduating she lost her sight completely.
For seventeen years her occupation has been housewife, and ten years as President of Home Readers. It all keeps her very busy. They started with eleven catalogs, and now offer more than thirty. There are a variety of products to choose from, and all catalogs are free to the blind consumer.
