The Central Jersey Chapter of the NFB of NJ meets from September to June, at the Joseph Kohn Rehabilitation Center, located at 130 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick. Our meetings are scheduled for every second Saturday of the month, except for holiday weekends, there is a alternative date that month. We gather about 9:30 AM to network, share information while we enjoy coffee and donuts.
The meeting is called to order at 10:30 and is adjourned by 12:00 noon.
Following the meeting, their is an opportunity for those who need lessons in Braille. Call ahead of time for an appointment with a Braille mentor, so that transportation arrangements can be scheduled.

Please come and join us in working towards securing equality and opportunities for the blind and visually impaired people of our community, so that we can live happy and prosperous lives.

Hi,

My name is Mary Jo Partyka and I am president of the Capital Chapter which serves the blind community in the Trenton/Princeton area. We meet on the third Saturday of each month at the Lawrence Library located at 2751 Brunswick Pike in Lawrenceville from 10:00 A.M. to noon. The site is Access Link-accessible.

We will be celebrating our fifth anniversary this year. On September 18 we will be doing our biggest fund-raiser which is the Septemberfest held at Veterans Park in Hamilton Township. In addition to selling items, we will meet the public and give out literature. We will also be participating in the New Jersey Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped Library Festival on October 15. This is an event which takes place every two years and we will be among other vendors who provide products and services specifically geared to the needs of the blind. On October 24, we will be sponsoring a buffet night at our local Pizza Hut. The purpose of this even is to let people know about our chapter and how it helps the community.
During the summer, two of our members attended a Trenton Thunder baseball game and the Capital Chapter was given special recognition in front of 6,000 people. I don't know if this will increase our membership but at least, people know we're out there if they need us.
